Saaleha is passionate about changing the world and giving back to her community, and since arriving at NYU has become interested in diverse subjects ranging from art and Africana studies to business and French.

Isabella DeSimone(TANDON '20)
Isabella is part of the Poly Project, a community service initiative, and The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers. She's considering a career in mechanical engineering, hoping to someday design reproductive devices to help women.
"I chose NYU because of its place within the city, and because of donor support, I was able to pursue the opportunity of a lifetime. STEM and business are fields that are dominated by males, but NYU is helping me to change that as I work towards the Dominican-American dream."
Carlos Benitez(STERN '19)
A junior with an eye toward global finance, Carlos walks through SoHo from his dorm to campus every day and marvels at the wonderful experience of living and studying in New York City.
"This scholarship represents to me the opportunity to continue to learn what I want to learn, to be involved with organizations and causes that I truly care about, and to be able to study abroad and learn about different cultures."
Jemar Bather(STEINHARDT '18)
Entering his final year at NYU in the Master's in Applied Statistics for Social Science Research program, Jemar has dreams to begin a Ph.D. program in statistics or biostatistics.
"I am one step closer to my goal. This scholarship reduces my financial burden, which allows me to focus on my coursework and volunteer activities, while playing an active role in promoting diversity in statistics."
Kea Lia Pedersen(TISCH '20)
Since arriving at NYU last fall, Kea Lia has pursued coursework in screenwriting, but she's also become interested in telling stories purely through audio, fostering an interest in foley and sound engineering.
"Attending NYU was a dream that seemed unrealistic; I thought that even if I somehow was accepted into the school, I would never be able to afford to attend. With this scholarship, I'll get an education that will help me become the artist I need to be.
