The 3,000 students in Liberal Studies—the liberal arts college embedded in Arts & Science—have long been known for being global, interdisciplinary, and engaged.
In 2020, our Student Service Ambassadors established the Violet Pantry, the first of its kind at NYU. Student-run and open to the entire NYU community, it provides easy access to non-perishable foods, fresh produce, personal hygiene products, and books, while also educating on reliable access to healthy food. Since opening, the Violet Pantry has provided food to thousands.
- $25 can provide three students with a week’s worth of groceries
- $100 can fund 200 packages of pasta
- $550+ can fund fresh produce (and more!) for an entire month at the Violet Pantry
This One Day, your generosity helps students from Liberal Studies and across all of NYU to focus on academics, participate in clubs, socialize with friends, conduct research, and volunteer—rather than worry about their next meal. Be part of their journey. For every 30 gifts, Bruce Grant, Interim Dean of Liberal Studies, will be donating $1,000, for up to a $3,000 contribution.
Liberal Studies Dean Challenge
For every 30 gifts, Bruce Grant, Interim Dean of Liberal Studies, will be donating $1,000, for up to a $3,000 contribution.
Arts & Science Challenge
When each of the Arts & Science schools reaches its goals, a $6,000 challenge gift from Dean Purugganan will be unlocked. $2,000 will go toward the CAS Connected Scholars Fund, $2,000 will go toward the GSAS Professional Development Fund, and $2,000 will go toward the Liberal Studies Violet Pantry.
