About William A. Lovis
William A. Lovis is Emeritus Professor and Curator of Anthropology at Michigan State University, where he practiced environmental archaeology in the Great Lakes, northern England, and northern Europe for 46 years. A New York City native born in Manhattan, he attended NYU, where he was a member and co-captain of the NYU fencing team, graduating with a BS from the School of Education in 1969 when he left New York, eventually earning his PhD in Anthropology. Bill Lovis is an avid outdoorsman who, with his partner, continues to work and play in the Northwoods and along the coasts of the northern Great Lakes.
